Welcome. Hopefully some of the reasoning your wife sees from others on this board will help her find some peace.

Hello from new member DarthFader
by darthfader ini have been lurking in the shadows for a while now i just got my account from the fine administrators of this board.
i have really enjoyed reading the well thought out comments and critiques of the wts doctrine.. i have been around the wts since i was 5 i left for a while during high school got to live a little worldly/normal life then got sucked back in.
my wife has been raised in the truth and even though weve been inactive (for a while now), she still has thoughts about the earthly hope and seeing her grandparents some day.

Confronting distortions with truth: my battle with JW apologist websites
by coffee_black inconfronting distortions with the truth: my recent battle with jw apologist websites.
i have recently become aware of jw apologist websites that have used my dad's name as well as my own to distort the role the societys' teachings played in my dad's refusal of a life saving kidney transplant and inevitably his death.
my dad's story is told in brief in numerous places on the internet.

My husband was asked all week if he was going or not, he went. No One asked me if I was going. When my family finds out I missed my first ever since in utero, I think it will be a turning point and the shunning will begin. I hope you are out Scott free Chickpea.

Any behavior you regret due to JW teaching
by happpyexjw indoes anyone wish they could make amends for mistakes made as a jw?
i tried very hard to follow the teachings very closely, right down to shunning some of my relatives who were df'd.
i also think i was very judgemental and hard on others..

I do regret being so judgemental and saying "I miss you at the meeting". I regret my Df'ed family that I shunned for so many years that it is too late to get a relationship back. I regret loosing touch with my father because he was Df'ed. I regret taking my little babies out in service in the rain and snow hoping it would somehow save their lives. I regret not letting my kids bring birthday cupcakes to school in kindergarten. I regret waking people up on Saturday mornings.

I just lost my job.
by JeffT ini was starting to hate working there, but it's still a drag.
i'm hoping to do some sort of free-lance technical writing, in particular writing accounting procedures.
if any of you have any advice, wisdom etc, i would love to hear it.

I am sorry. Hope the free lance stuff works out, but I know that is not the same as far as benefits go. My husband's business has been slow and I don't mean to sound corny but a positive attitude really does help and it makes life bearable in the meantime. Just when we think it has been a horrible week something turns up. I tell everyone I know about the business he is in and am constantly surprised who ends up being good customers. So put the word out and be positive!

What Were Your Consequences For Leaving The "Truth"???
by minimus inwas it as bad as everyone says, that if you leave the organization, you'll go back to the world, get into trouble and suffer?.

I feel almost like a patriot, willing to give it all up for freedom. Thankfully I still have my immediate family, some are not so lucky. I am willing to give up the rest. No, I am not on drugs or prostituting myself .

I get rid of the candy, threw most of the wrappers away. But those few that I just stuffed in the couch cushions keep biting me in the behind.

MEMORIAL SHOCK!!!!--- Part 2
by african GB Member ina few days ago i started a thread about a "brother" who is climbing jw corporate ladder in the speed of lightning...he was only baptised recently, but already "anointed" and therefore partaking..... well, at this year's memorial we were subjected to an emotional showoff...his wife cried her lungs out as he partook....apparently she is upset at the fact that they won't be together in the new system, because he will be in heaven and she will be on earth!!!.
a lot of people in our cong were also touched and almost half of them were in tears....i have to say that it looked so convincing that even the worldlies will think that this is the truth....

Well that answers the question why the number goes up every year. New crazies hatched constantly.

Question about number of memorial partakers
by TweetieBird inwhen i was a kid (a long, long time ago) it seems like the number of "remnant" was around 8,000. at the memorial tonight, the brother kept bringing up the fact that last year there were only about 9,000+ (can't remember the exact number but it seemed closer to 10,000).
what is the society's explanation for the number going up instead of down?

My husband went last night (I still love him). He wrote down 9986 partakers for 2008. Totally amazing to me how they can all dissect every other number the society throws at them but just sit there dazed and ignore that one. Interesting to see what this years figure will be.
